Visa to Acquire Plaid Technologies for $5.3bn

Visa Inc, a provider of digital payment technologies, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Plaid Technologies Inc, an application programming interface (API) developer for banking data, for a consideration of $5.3bn. Both companies are based in the US.

Visa will fund the transaction from cash on hand and debt issuance at the appropriate time.


This transaction will have no impact on Visa’s previously announced stock buyback program or dividend policy.

The transaction is expected to close in the first to second quarter of 2020, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

Hacktiv8 Secures $3m in pre-Series A round

Hacktiv8, an Indonesia-based provider of solutions to turn beginners into job-ready web developers, has secured $3m in a pre-Series A funding round led by East Ventures.

In addition, Convergence Ventures, EverHaus, PT Prasetia Dwidharma, RMKB Ventures, Skystar Capital, SMDV and Sovereign’s Capital, LP also participated in the round.

Ronald Ishak and Riza Fahmi are the co-founders of Hacktiv8.

Lemongrass Secures $10m

Lemongrass Consulting, a professional and managed service provider of SAP enterprise applications running on AWS hyperscale cloud infrastructure, has secured $10m in Series C funding led by Blue Lagoon Capital and Columbia Capital.

The investment brings Lemongrass's total funding since launching to $29.3m.

Eamonn O'Neill and Walter Beek are the founders of Lemongrass Consulting.

Concerto HealthAI Secures $150m in Series B Funding

Concerto HealthAI, a US-based real-world data and enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) technology solutions provider for precision oncology, has raised $150m in a Series B funding round led by Declaration Partners.

In addition, Maverick Ventures, AllianceBernstein PCI and SymphonyAI Group also participated in the funding round.

As part of the transaction, Andrew Goldfarb, partner at Declaration Partners, and Leif Pedersen, senior operating partner at SymphonyAI Group, will join Concerto HealthAI’s board.


Romesh Wadhwani, founder and CEO of SymphonyAI Group, will continue as executive chairman, while Jeff Elton, PhD, CEO of Concerto HealthAI will continue as board member.

9yards (Anyline) Secures $12m

9yards (Anyline), an Austrian provider of mobile optical character reader (OCR) technology to allow developers to add text recognition to applications, has secured $12m in Series A funding led by Project A Services.

Gernot Langes-Swarovski Foundation, Johann Hansi Hansmann and Senovo Capital Management also participated in the round.

Accel-KKR Invests $28m in Pegasus

Pegasus, an Australian workforce management service provider, targeting membership-based groups, such as corporate social clubs and staff associations, has secured $28m from Silicon Valley investment firm Accel-KKR.

With this investment, Accel-KKR Principal Joe Portenwill joins the board of Pegasus.

Salesforce leads NewStore investment

NewStore, a US-based omnichannel-as-a-service provider, has secured $20m in a venture funding round led by Salesforce Ventures.

In addition, Activant Capital Group LLC, General Catalyst Partners LLC and Stephan Schambach also participated in the funding round.
